I saw my pdoc on Wednesday afternoon and she's extended my long term disability through June 2016. The ultimate goal is for me to try to work 12- 15 hours a week and let disability do the rest through my maximum benefit, but I'm nowhere close to being able to work.
I am on disability through my previous employer, through a state employees retiree program. I feel fortunate because I didn't qualify for SSDI - not enough work quarters. I lived in western Canada for nine years and didn't come back to the U.S. until December 2011, so I only had 12 work quarters I needed out of 20. Nowhere close to qualifying.
I'm very grateful to have this disability extended. I panicked for a good week before the appointment. I finally slept well on Wednesday night.
