I have been having issues with being on the depressive side of bipolar for the best part of 18 months, with spikes in mild mania maybe a couple of times a month if that. My Mood charts indicate I am way more depressed than manic. I have major issues with anxiety, and am taking Lamotrigine to control stability of mood, and Valium for anxiety. I have tried three lots of Anti Psychotics in this time, with no real long term changes to the depressive side of my bipolar.
I was recently hospitalized, where another AP was prescribed, however it made my depressive side worse and I immediately put on significant weight in a very short space of time.
After a heap of arguing, and more than 10 years passing, I have got my Pdoc to agree to trying an AD again. 10 years ago it caused major mania, however a lot has changed medication wise in that time, and I am banking on this fact. I have been prescribed Lexapro 10mg.
Has anyone had any experience with it, what it did for their depressive side, whether it drove their mania, and issues with weight gain. The weight gain is my major worry, thanks to my OCD and according to my Dietician, Anorexic Tendencies.
Any feedback welcome
