People like us are programmed to be a certain way, a way we adapted to and is the only thing we know. Sounds like your bf is doing a great job on modifying his behavior. I've been through two therapists with both being a waste of time. Takes a special someone to be able to get through to one of us. Luckily enough I have a wife that gets me!!! Tell him to just join here and get involved in the NPD room as there are a few good people in there and ones that do help.
Honestly I think it was his NPD that made him do so well. He threw himself into recovery from addiction, and therapy for the NPD and other issues 100% like he knew was going to be the best at it. It kind of boggles my mind how much he grew in only a year but he was going to therapy three times a week and reading all sorts of books. It's the smaller stuff he has to work harder on, like seeing things from my point of view/empathizing. His default is still very self-focused. Thanks for the info!!
