Hi Nike,
It's hard when medication makes you hungry! And it's probably the snacks that don't help. I'm the same height as you and was over 200lb. (In large part because medication makes me hungry).
I went to weight watchers and learned alternative things to eat to manage my hunger. It takes a lot of discipline to follow the plan, but I do have treats. I am now a healthy 145lb and have maintained this well, but have to always measure what I eat and eat silly amounts of vegetables to keep my hunger at bay. I still have to go to meetings to help me stay on track, so now I help out.
I don't know your age, weight watchers won't take you if you're under a certain age (uk) and it's harder if someone else is in charge of meals there are other groups that use sensible eating plans to manage weight. Skipping meals doesn't work, because your body needs nutrients and you end up eating without being aware of what you're doing.
A good way to start is by writing down what you eat and drink, it makes everyone eat less just doing that and helps you see your strengths and weaknesses. You really need to want to lose weight badly enough, and for yourself, not because you aught to. I liken it in difficulty to giving up smoking, but it is possible.
Keep up the exercise too, it really helps.
Good luck and I hope you can get some support if you really want to eat more healthily.
