Medications are digested using the same liver stuff as alcohol. This is why you are not supposed to drink alcohol when you use certain medications. It will damage your liver by making it work too hard. For example, you should never take ibuprofen with alcohol - take aspirin instead.

I can't remember how antidepressants affected alcohol, because it was 15 years ago. It seems like drinking was no longer fun when I was taking antidepressants.
