Have you ever stepped up to the plate and done the right thing despite having very good reasons not to?

As much as the woman was not the kindest to me, I went to visit my former mother-in-law in the hospital today. She has had multiple strokes, and as a result is suffering dementia and the inability to care for herself. Neither my ex nor his siblings live here, so ~ I ~ am the closest thing to family she has. Thankfully she recognised me. And, when all was said and done I realised I was happy to have done it.
