My cutting began when I was 13 when my mother very harshly verbally abused me. I got a C in math on my 8th grade report card. She told me I emanated evil. Her exact words. I didn't know I cut myself until I saw the cut and the blood. Did I dissociate? It;s on my right wrist. Scar still there.

I never remember cutting myself. I only find out when I see the cuts that are mostly below my elbows. Size ranges from half an inch to an inch. I don't see any other explanation. Its not like I bump myself.

Now I noticed a horizonal cut an inch wide on my upper right thigh. Now if this is a self injury I'm injuring myself where most people can't see it. True you can wear long sleeves but to see my latest cut , well they don't make shorts that short, including short shorts. I feel really sneaky.
short version the USA now has a mental disorder for self injury actions and the affects related to before, during and after the self injuring. it is called Non Suicidal Self Injury Disorder. the criteria for it that would rule it out would be if you were psychotic (having hallucinations, delusions or the self injuring happened due to drugs or alcohol or other health issues)

the result of this new diagnostics ....any time anyone self injures its now called non suicidal self injury unless the person already has a history of other physical \mental health problems, then those past diagnosis's are looked at to see if the self injuring is better explained by those mental disorders instead example if someone has schizophrenia or a history of having delusions and hallucinations (some locations call this delirium \delirious ) where they have a history of being out of touch with reality then the self injury could fall in with their hallucinations delusions with schizophrenia.

we can not tell you what this is with in you so please dont take this as a diagnosis. instead my suggestion is if this continues to bother you contact your or a treatment provider in your off the computer location. they will be able to tell you what this is.
