Sounds like you have been through a lot. Did you quit or were you fired? If you were let go, I would try for unemployment. Also, look at employment sites on the web (monster, career builder, indeed, etc). Also, state jobs might interest you. I have a heart for people (to my detriment sometimes) so pretty much since 2002 I've worked for the state in some capacity or another. But it makes me feel like I'm helping people and making my little part of the world better, which helps out with my mental state because I get really overwhelmed if I think about everything that's wrong in the world.
Another option depending on how much your illness effects you is filing for disability. I would probably check with my psychiatrist and psychologist about what their thoughts would be about that first, though. And check with the lawyer, but I think it's done on a contingency fee, where they don't get a retainer, but get a percentage if you win so you only pay for court costs if you lose. Of course, this process takes a lot of time and you want to check around and get a good lawyer.
Also, check into food stamps and Medicaid, and see if you qualify for TANF (not sure what it's called now but it was Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). You can go in person and some (maybe all?) states have them where you can fill them out on line.
Best of luck to you. Losing a job is never easy, especially this time of year.
