Our thoughts are just as much habit as the rest of our being.
I have experienced what you've described since I was 14 and not in any particular mood state, and it has worried many a professional even though I had zero intent and they're automatic.
I have however noticed that they become stronger and my OCD causes them to run on a loop while I am depressed, which fuels my depression....
So I have decided to combat these thoughts with 3 positive ones, to help strengthen more positive mental habits.
They are not gone these thoughts of mine, just this morning I pictured the bus rolling down the side of the bridge on my way to work, but they happen less frequently, and with much less intensity.
