Serotonin is the opposite of the sleep hormone, melatonin. In the daytime, the sun produces serotonin on our skin. At night it is converted to melatonin. Without sleep damage can be caused to the brain. Nights without sleep cause hallucination. Schizophrenics are usually found with a deficiency of melatonin in their system. Serotonin also helps increase brain activity which is bad for psychotics.
