Some ppl think SI ppl are 'fake' if they put their injuries in plain sight... bcuz they think ppl that leave marks out in the open are just 'attention seekers', and NOT doing it for the more 'legit' reasons ppl self harm. However, it's pretty hard to hide marks in most cases.
