As people get 'talked to' by the moderators and forum leaders for being rude and harsh, so too should they be for other inappropriate posts and threads. This has - very recently - gotten so irritating that I have become reluctant to open up the website.

It's really up to the individual member to consider what is trivial to them or not. The mod/admin team only acts on guideline infractions and there is no guideline regarding what you believe to be "trivial" topics.
We always tell members to do their best self care when they are here. This means that it's the members' responsibility to do that care, decide what is important to them and what is not. If something seems trivial to you, then move on to the next thread or forum. As mentioned before, you can use the ignore function to help you if need be.
While we cannot be the trivial police, if you think that a thread/post is against our Community Guidelines, please feel free to report it with your thoughts as to why it's against guidelines and the team will be happy to look into the situation.
I'm sorry that you are struggling with this issue and I hope you can find the best way for you to work through it. If you have any questions or are looking for suggestions, you can always pm a team member and we'll do our best to assist you.
Take care!
