I am thinking of several ideas...

When I suddenly found myself on my own I visited my bank. I explained the situation and they helped me with a small loan and offered to postpone payments. They also paid my bills for the first month. Yes I was scared but you have nothing to lose if you don't try.

There are a number of agencies too that can help you pay those initial bills and even help you with that job search. In my city such agencies are the food bank, the Catholic Family Services and some of the women's organizations in town. If you attend a place of worship, many can provide assistance annonymously.

Christmas is coming up. Contact agencies like the United Way to register for food and gift hampers.

There IS a way.
