Self injury isn't always cutting, there are many ways, including pinching, punching, kicking, burning, starvation... What's important is to find healthier ways to work through those huge emotions, i don't cut or carve anymore, but the temptation still arises in extreme stress. One thing I found helped was when I get the urge really badly, to pick up my markers and colour in. Or draw on my own arm where i would have cut, something pretty instead of pain.
