Well.. He does sound a bit transparent and clumsy compared to AsPD stereotypes. Sociopaths tend to lie - and get away with it. They tend to use people - successfully. Etc. Whereas it sounds like your friend lies in a very obvious, clumsy way, and then gets very emotionally flustered and freaked out when people can easily tell or find out he is full of it. He might have a combination of autism and AsPD traits due to childhood abandonment and bullying issues. But in my amateur perception he doesn't sound like a classic sociopath.
