Sometimes it's as though this OCD thing plays games/tricks on me , for example my wife has two dogs and when either one of us goes out we put up a gate in the living room to keep them contained in one room and prevent them from roaming around the house and there will be times I know I put the gate up before I walk out the door but I have this
overwhelming need to check it at least 2-3 times before i'm satisfied it's up, I don't understand why it is this way ,i'm a pretty bright guy and I don't miss much , another example I own a car with a remote start and alarm and when I park I feel the need to chirp it at least 2-3 times and this is
wherever I go and if I think I didn't arm the car I go out to the parking lot and make sure I did...this is crazy now I know I armed the alarm yet I still have to arm it again several times and if I don't it causes me
anxiety because I think I didn't ...does anyone have any idea why I may be doing this , aside from having OCD , any help or advice to stop this would be great , thank you
