I agree about the Big Brother problem. Sometimes I have wished the IRS would simply figure my income taxes for me, but then I think about the dreadful errors that might happen and the nightmare of dealing with IRS "customer service" LOL

You are definitely right, @George H. I just don't know how to escape Big Brother.
Mind your P's and Q's I guess and be careful what you say on social media and be careful what pages you like. And learn the key words that the NSA logarthms red light

It isn't just the government that knows significant information about our lives but big business and corporations to. My Bank is one such corporation that has admitted to tracking the Social Media history of it's clients. Why they would need that I do not know.
No, you don't have to do that in Texas. As a matter of fact you can't although recently regulations were changed and one is that you can keep your plates if you wish. Vehicle sales regulations & laws vary by state. Texas likes to complicate things. I could be liable but most likely not.
It's bad enough that any entity collect so much info but now they share it.
Is what your bank does legal? I know that employers and potential employers do it but the legality is still questionable.

Haven't you heard? That's illegal

I think I have the situation in hand although it wasn't as simple as a phone call. Nothing is simple with TX DMV. If the new owner doesn't do anything crazy with the truck in the next 48 hours I'm probably in the clear
This is really my own fault. When you sell a used vehicle to an individual here you have the option of mailing notice to the DMV along with a $5 check or you can do it online. I did neither.
