Oh yes, big time! There are tangible links to me between being cold and being depressed. One winter when I was trying to cut costs by not turning the heat up, and I spent almost all my time in bed just trying to warm up. Another when our heater wasn't working, and there were other things going on too, but I was so miserable I really wanted to die and was making plans to. The cold keeps me from wanting to get out of bed in the morning, or venture out of the house for any reason. I dread it. I sometimes literally can't tell the difference between being cold and being depressed. I apply the same strategy - first try putting on 30 million layers of clothes, and then if that isn't enough, go to bed and stay there. Light makes a difference too. Lately, I can't make it light enough in my house. I turn on every light, and it's still too dark. So I light a bunch of candles too. The candles help. I have seasonal affective disorder, but I'm not getting up early enough to do my light therapy. Got it in twice this week and I know I won't over the weekend because I just barely make it to work. But when I do get in front of the light box, I could just stay there all day. I don't like it when my time is up and I have to stop.
