Hmm. Maybe thats why my mother waited so long (i was over 50!) to tell me that my older brother had told her i wasnt so smart, that the nuns only gave me A's cuz they liked me. She was hedging her bets - what if i was smart? (I would know to say "were", for one thing!) By then tho i had proven i wasnt, so i guess it was okay to tell me. To say it outright.
