It was more the fact that it came off as a joke, but I do also understand what you're saying. I think what the person was getting at was if you are feeling actively suicidal, you should be seeking help in a different place (professional help, etc) because an emotional support chat alone probably won't be enough to help you and it may overwhelm other people. I certainly do agree that emotional support should be a place to be open about your struggles, but this person genuinely seemed like he was trolling, especially because he has said questionable things before that made others feel uncomfortable.
