Maybe the person wasnt actually questioning your integrity? Maybe they were just asking. It doesnt sound like a rude thing to do. If it was me and you put me on ignore for asking I would be angry about that. Going against the tide isnt always bad. It sorta looks to me like who ever asked is being publically flogged and sorta bullied. Just my opinion though
