Thank you Venuss for saying what I wasn't able to articulate very well.
Also, bipolar cannot turn into schizophrenia or schizoaffective. The diagnosis may change and there are people diagnosed with bipolar and schizophrenia (although they probably really should be diagnosed with schizoaffective) but the disorder is whatever it is and if you are diagnosed first with bipolar and then later with schizophrenia or schizoaffective that just means your diagnosis changed to reflect what they are seeing at the present time. Sure symptoms get worse and make those things more clear but nothing changes but the words used to describe what is already occurring.
And honestly diagnosis can be so subjective....I was taught that schizoaffective was a severe enough disorder that people would not be able to function without a great deal of support but on this board there are people with schizoaffective doing much better than I am. Diagnosis is not always equal from dr to dr.
But the only thing bipolar can worsen into is worse bipolar.
