I have brain fog from fibro. My pdoc prescribed me Provigil at one point. It's an ADHD med. It helped for awhile, then stopped working after about a year. He said that was common.
Post-it notes and lists are my friends. There are times my planner looks like a paper porcupine I have so much stuck to it. Ah, my planner. It is my bible of where I'm supposed to be and what I'm supposed to be doing. If I ever lose it I'm sunk.
It also helps to have a routine. If I do things in the same order every time I do them I don't have to try and remember what to do next. Of course there are the bad days when I have to look at the floor of the shower to see if there are any suds there to remember if I washed my hair. 
While it doesn't help with memory I find if I can try to have a sense of humor about it all helps.
