My daughter was put on birth control pills at 14 because she suffers vertigo and passes out during her menstrual cycle. The only people who knew were myself and her mother, not even her sister was told. She still takes them for the same reason now, 16 years later.
It is very easy to keep this to yourself, just look on it as nothing more than any other medication. Keep it and take it in your bedroom, if a friend happens to see it say it is 'just a med' for private problems you are having.
Your Mum seems to be having problems accepting that you are becoming independent. It is a natural fear all parents have, but still very annoying for you. Just keep speaking up for yourself, especially where your own health is concerned, she will finally learn acceptance.
Dave.
