Dear Greg -- This is devastating news that would scare anyone. I can't even begin to imagine how this must feel to someone with a family to worry about.
I think that physicians like to play it very safe, offer no false hope, and start to prepare the patient for the *possibility* of an unfavorable diagnosis. This can be hard on we who aren't used to dealing with life and death conditions on a daily basis, as doctors are.
Some time ago, a doctor called and told me I needed a bone marrow biopsy for leukemia. When I hung up, I heard this clicking sound. It was my teeth chattering. I didn't even know that teeth could really chatter. The test, thank God, came back clean.
I'd also like to raise the prospect of getting the test sooner. I do understand financial concerns, having many of my own. However, if you put off diagnosis and treatment so long that you're chances of successful are reduced, your family will be worse off in the long run.
((((((Gregg)))))) and prayers ----
