Your new insurance should have a list of approved P-docs in your area. You could try to narrow it down to maybe 5-10 and ask your current P-doc is she knows any of them. Generally, formal termination does not happen, in my experience. I do think it is healthy for a lot of reasons as abandonment is a core issue for many clients in therapy/treatment and having a healthy termination helps with this. It is good that you have several months to plan this out.
