What I do when that drive to cut gets bad is draw out colour in. At first where I would have cut, now just coloring is soothing enough. And I also started less severe forms instead, like pinching. It's really difficult to pinch hard enough to break the skin, but the pain would be like a decaf version, not the same relief but almost. Then adding the drawing and I don't even pinch often anymore.
