I don't think it's rude to cancel with receptionist. You are a consumer and weren't satisfied with the service, no explanation needed. It would be a waste of money to go back and tell them why you weren't satisfied in fact we should get a refund like other services provide.
It sounds as though you will work well with new t. Sometimes ts are not a right for for is and that is ok as long as you realise that and find a more suitable one for your needs.
I have often gone to see ts once and never returned, yes it might hurt their feelings but they are trained to deal with that.
