I look forward to Christmas. My son will come home to visit. We will spend happy family time together.

Last night my husband and I did something fun and "different" for Christmas. In my hometown we have an old historic civil war fort. We went there last night and they had people re-enacting a Christmas party the Confederate soldiers would have had in 1861. Everything was set up so authentic, from the period costumes, to the decorations. There was no electric lighting, just kerosene lanterns and candles. They played music, served cider and egg nog and sang Christmas Carols. Then they shot off muskets and a cannon. It was interesting and lots of fun.

Not making judgments about the American Civil War. It was a sad tragedy. But I do love to study history.
Thanks for this!
