I often joke that my motto is to leave no entendre un-doubled. Humor, particularly sarcasm, is a social lubricant for me. Since I have no desire to be social and since I am required by life to be in society, I use it all the time.

Even if I wished to become close with someone I had gotten to know over time - a wish that seems almost too far fetched to be considered - it would be near impossible because I have presented a persona to that person that is so far removed from who I truly am, that it would interfere with presenting the real me. When I run out of gas socially, something that happens infrequently but has happened, I get so quiet that I am asked repeatedly what's wrong. Nothing is wrong - I'm being myself and it's freaking you out.

I've had hour long, animated and detailed conversations with people about the New England Patriots or the Dallas Cowboys - and I've never seen a football game in my life. Long conversations about the Kardashians and I couldn't pick one out of a police line-up.
Thanks for this!
