I think it's good to look around. My T kept asking for me to give the benefit of the doubt (ie if she was late or didn't call or reschedule) I did. A lot. Finally she missed an appointment altogether. We exchanged emails and I was mad. She then decided I needed to stop emailing and disappeared altogether. In hindsight I should have taken prior incidents as warning signs but I was so attached I couldn't get myself out.

How she behaved hurt me deeply. So yes give the benefit of the doubt but don't ignore warnings.
