It would be called a core belief.

I'll use a metaphor: A core belief is a belief that forms the "roots" of who you believe you are. Thus you're going to be very reluctant to change that belief because it will have ramifications (trunk, big branches, little branches, leaves, etc.).

I do see a core belief overlapping with mythological thinking and confirmation bias.
