My older brother is very sick, and my mother absolutely refuses to allow me to accompany her if/when she goes to see him. I haven't been on any sort of trip for well over two years, I have enough money to pay for a ticket, but Mom is yelling at me and complaining that I am making it all about me.

There is also the minor detail that his wife and I don't see eye to eye on most things. We are both very headstrong and Mom doesn't want me to "upset" her anymore than she already is.
