I had a patient once who was 107. She lived in the nursing home b/c at 100 she was falling at home and her 80 year old son couldn't pick her up. Every day she got up, dressed herself, put on a full face of make-up (wouldn't leave her room without it), got herself to meals, etc. I got to know her when she experienced her first moderately serious illness at 106 and spent a couple days in the hospital before insisting on returning to the nursing home where she immediately refused to use oxygen, accepted help for about 3 days and was herself by the end of a week. She was amazing. She was 108 the last I heard of her.
