I haven't heard of this before, but I have no doubt you're being truthful. Shyte, if some guy told me I wasn't good enough for him, I'd tell him to hit the pavement and go find someone who is good enough for him. If he acted (in any way) that I wasn't good for him, I'd do the same.
Heck, some guy puts me down, I already tell him to do better. I don't put up with the put downs, no matter how subtle. (Constructive criticism is different, but IME most haven't mastered the art of how to correctly do this.)
