I never asked for any (have always wanted something), but T started giving them to me on his own. The first two things he gave me were short, typed-out passages that he felt reminded him of me and would be symbolic to me... they came from books he was reading. The third (and most meaningful to me) thing he gave me is a copy of Schubert's string quartet in G major. Actually he told me that for tomorrow's session he wants to talk about how the music has served as a transitional object for me. What I really appreciate about the things that he gives me are:

I never had to ask for anything; rather he sensed that I needed something.

That he makes every effort to help me stay connected in between sessions.

That each thing he has chosen to give me has been a complete representation of me as a person. It shows that he truly knows and "gets" me.
