I think he's over-identifying. He's disclosed some stuff that leads me to think that he found healing in relationships (or at least has seen it happen for others) and I suspect he thinks that I would too.
You're right though - I need to feel safe and secure within myself before I go looking for it elsewhere. That's exactly how I got myself into trouble before.
Like I told him before, some people are lucky with relationships, others not so much. I think it's easier for guys too. Yes, some abusers are women, but most are men, it's in the way we're all socialized...
