I have taken it for movement disorders caused by APs two different times. Both times it helped the movement disorder somewhat although I needed additional meds both times as well. I don't remember side effects the first time; the 2nd time I had very dry mouth (I may have been on more the 2nd time). The first time I think I took it about 2 months until the movement disorder had passed; the more recent time I took it 2-3 months I think. Because I get movement disorders very easily with APs I was just given a script for it when I started this summer's failed AP and then I failed to realize that I had a movement disorder for about 3 weeks of being in discomfort. I eventually had to go off that AP b/c the movement disorder got worse and there was a risk of tardive dyskinesia. Had I stayed on the AP I would have taken cogentin long-term. I assume that it will be readily offered with clozaril if needed given my history.
