Hashi/bipolar mom,
I'm like you when it comes to meds. I get the oddest sides or a completely opposite response. But I'm so sleep deprived, and have been for years, that I'm ready to make an attempt to deal with or live with, side effects, in order to sleep and try to get somewhat stable. Regarding Metformin, I've read some articles on BNN.com(BipolarNewsNetwork, which is run by a psychiatrist who is one of the world's experts on bipolar) that Metformin has been tried. successfully, as an add on to help psych patients lose medication induced weight gain, as well as lower the risk for metabolic syndrome. Research it, then talk with your pdoc.
