Perhaps these two verses in Ephisians will help:

1 Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children;

2 and walk in love, even as Christ also loved you, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for as a sweet aroma.

As Christians and imitators of Christ, we don't always make it. Only Christ was perfect. But keeping Him and His love as our goal, it becomes easier.
