I never thought of it that way, but bingo!--yes, that is the central fear. I did call him once to talk about a really important issue and that was so hard for me. And his return phone call did not go well. So hard. I've never called him since. So yes, this email was huge and big and all the rest. At face value it seems little and insignicant--hey, I just sent an email, I do that dozens of times a day to all sorts of people. Therapy tends to magnify the importance and significance of everything and allows us to work out the dramas of our existence on a small, (relatively) safe stage. I guess that is one reason it is effective in provoking change in our lives.
