Actually, strong ginger or green tea (hot) works for me. I think it's the habit of sitting and "comforting" a hot mug while discussing things is what many people are also hooked on.

BTW as I moved about the country in the past, I also joined churches that were "de-caffed."

I didn't want the ones who preached it was a drug and all that, but ones that just knew it was not good for the body, and didn't serve it.
