Do like I do, I lose track of ongoing conversations and posts all the time, irl and online, even stopping typing to light up a smoke and I will lose my train of thought and start typing, or doing something else totally unrelated, so this is what I do personally as a preventative measure.
I type out all my serious responses in a word text document first, do not type it in the little box at the bottom of the thread if it’s gonna be a long post, you could lose the post for good when submitting your entry, for example, it could have been deleted by admin when submitted, and so will be lost to you forever unless someone else has copy pasted a copy for themselves before this happens, repeated server crashes, home power failure, pc crashes ect there are numerous variables and it has happened to the best of us, on more than one occasion. This option eliminates part, but not all of that happening, and reduces the variables, that is what the cut and paste function is for, get used to using it lol,
Not only does it have free spell checker in a word text document (f7 key, but only works whilst a word document is open I think) but you can also save all your important posts and chats to your pc to refer back to later,
If you make a mistake and “suddenly lose” your entire post whilst typing it out in a word document, try pressing and holding the Ctrl key (bottom line of keys on keyboard, either corner) then press and release the letter z, that should bring it all back after a few presses, should only be 1 or 2 presses away, that’s dependant on how big of a mistake it was, naturally, so just be prepared to do more ctrl+z button pressing if necessary, whatever you do, DO NOT close the text page that you were working on under any circumstances until you have tried this option a few times and are prepared to let it go for good as unrecovered, oh I nearly forgot, if or when you try this method of recovery, you end up with a page full of zzz’s and no recovered material, then you have options,
First of all DO NOT DELETE THOSE ACCUMILATED zzz‘s, using ANY delete function only makes it worse, leave them right where they are, you could be pressing the control key and not holding it in permanently, try releasing it and then press it again holding the Ctrl button firmly down at all times whilst pressing the z key intermittently, or you are not pressing and holding the Ctrl key at all but something else, or even something has simple has using the other Ctrl key instead should work, the zzz’s that had appeared will automatically decrease by 1 every time you press the Ctrl+z buttons taking you 1 step closer back to you original post and the possible recovery of your text data.
I also created a folder for these text documents and placed it on my desktop, I placed it prominently so that I can see it all the time, visual reminders are good, I save the more important posts in text format to my desktop folder. I have a junk folder has well, for all the “fragments” of memory I do manage to recover, and remember to write down, even though they don’t manage to fit in any ware yet, one day they might, who knows.
If nothing else, you will have your own written words as proof as to whether your delusional or not in regards to the conversations, having all the info together in one place helps a lot, on the upside you will also be able to chart your changing moods, thoughts and responses over time to help you on your way to finding new solutions to your current personal problems…just remember to put the current date, the forum and threads name as the title of the document to be saved for quick reference, i will demonstrate,
240807whatisthisgeneral
that will be the name of this document when i save it to my desktop folder.
its the simplest of formats, but i have found it to be the most effective one to date.
just a long winded, convoluted random thought…take care.
