I freely admit that I tend to swear in therapy. I love a good swear word. But I also have to admit that when I hear my current therapist swear or one of my two previous therapists swear, it would throw me. It's not that I was startled or put off with their swearing, it was just that I am always surprised when professionals I work with swear. I personally love a good swear word. It feels like to me that nothing really expresses what I want to say better than a really good swear word. I sometimes think that my current therapist just swears, occasionally, because she's trying to "bond" or connect with me. Her tendency to do that has almost disappeared--I think she realizes that it doesn't really fit her persona.
Thanks for this!
