I decided that I don't want to deal with my current pdoc (since he decided I should get a 2nd opinion.... by way of telling me T to let me know this). I really can't even look at his face and have an uncontrollable urge to punch him.
So then there's another pdoc there. Both him and my current pdoc work in private practice together, outside of the consultation center. Forget that. Plus, the pdocs where I go don't take insurance and I just can't afford this on top of therapy.
It was very difficult, but I got an appointment with a doctor who accepts my insurance. It wasn't hard to find a doc who accepts my insurance, it was hard to find one who was taking new patients. Also, a lot of the places I called said that I would have to go to therapy there in order to see the psychiatrist.
It was actually pretty funny because as I was sorting through the list of doctors, I had to filter a couple of them out because I work with them at my internship.
My appointment is on September 18th. There was only one doctor available from this particular network that is able to accept new patients. I was so nervous that the doctor would be female. The receptionist only used the doctor's name and I was listening for a "he" or "she" but nothing was mentioned. Finally at the very end of the phone call I asked, "Is this doctor a male or female?" The receptionist said, "Male. We actually don't even have any female psychiatrists who work here."

Whew.
My 7th pdoc 8 years. The first question the woman asked was, "Have you ever been in mental health treatment before?"
