My name is Adam King. I was recently diagnosed (finally) with bipolar type I along with other health concerns, so here I am.
I don't wish to be defined by my diagnoses but I could use a community that understands some of the things I go through on a daily basis. I've been dealing with (mostly uncontrolled) bipolar for at least six years now.
I first began to suspect I had bipolar in 2013 after years of cyclical mood swings. I've read the DSM entries and studied psychology (both in school and out) over the years. Long before I started exhibiting obvious symptoms of bipolar I wanted to be a psychologist.
In any even, now I am on a prescription (Saphris) and have been prescribed vitamin D. My psychiatrist (who I trust only enough to deliver results of my brain chemistry and bloodwork labs) has also suggested three specialized medications for my double MTHFR mutation. I have elevated cortisol levels, high folate, low serotonin, high dopamine (with, mysteriously, low DOPAC), elevated glutamate levels. There are other chemical imbalances that go along with my "issues," but I won't go into more detail in my introduction.
Thanks for taking the time to read all this! I look forward to talking to you!
In earnest,
Adam King
