Now of course everyone thinks i was lying but the truth is I did not remember at all that I had spoken to my ex. I did not remember any conversation I had. But it was all there in my facebook messenger that i had spoken to him! I don't know why I didn't remember. EVen the conversations I didn't remember. They just hit me when I read them in my messenger! Now, I've had this problem since I was small. I can remember some things with vivid details while some just completely skip my mind. I also have genetic depression. I had read that depression causes selective memory. Do you think it could be that?

I find that when my depression is worse, so is my memory. I have to check my diary and write a list to plan each day or I forget everything.
If it's a lifelong issue too, you may be able to find tips on how to work around and compensate for memory problems.
One of my tricks is to say I don't know if I'm likely to have forgotten something or misremember.

Now I'm older, I blame my age but I tell people I forgot things. I have a standing joke I say that I have a memory that would make a goldfish blush!

For me it's short term memory that's hardest, longer ago I remember better.
