Yes, what he did was despicable.
I have to think that punishment would be wasted on him, in this life. If he had any regrets, wouldn't it have prevented him from doing the deed?
I find a thin line with people who commit such horrendous acts of violence, as surely no sane person could possibly do this, or can they? I am not one to decide, but the jury has. God's punishment will be just, of that we can be sure of.
My only solace in this is my belief that God and His angels were with Jessica in that final time. Children who are able to discuss their own dying process always see angels with them.
