With SSDI you really shouldn't need to file. If you do have some situation that requires filing it's not hard. You can do it yourself using Turbotax (the most basic is free and will tell you if you need to file at all or if you need a different version that will cost you about $30-$50) or pay a professional. I always did my own.
I can't remember the rules with SSDI but I think you have to be making a somewhat significant amount over your benefit to have to file at all.
I've only had to file once since I got SSDI and that was because I had my student loans discharged which they consider being paid so I had to file and then prove that I really did not owe them a lot of money over the whole thing.
