I don't have a family, and few friends, and my work keeps me in contact with most of my colleagues past and present, as well as LinkedIn. So I'm not on FB. I saw a photo recently which summed up my attitude to social media. It was a parade where there were barriers by the side of the road, and everyone was holding up their smartphone to film or take photos. Except for a white haired old lady, who was just watching everything in the parade, and smiling. No one else was because they were too fixated on capturing a perfect shot.
